Do you have a child interested in cooking? The Caravan is offering cooking classes for children ages 6-12 at the Whetstone and Lazelle Woods Rec Centers. Registration opens on Wednesday, September 4th at 12:30 PM.

Each class teaches young chefs the basics, including knife skills. Lessons are balanced between hands-on interaction and learning about the origin and nutritional value of each ingredient.

Learn a timeless Latin American recipe that uses fresh, bright ingredients to create a simply delicious salsa! Participants will get a crash course in basic knife skills while exploring the benefits of raw foods.

Celebrate the first week of Autumn with a strange salsa that combines all of the flavors of Fall into one bite! Participants will explore the produce using all of their senses and learn interesting facts about the seasonal ingredients.

This lesson literally “wraps up” our first series of classes! Participants will learn to make simple flour tortillas from scratch while sampling some of the Caravan’s favorite unique salsas.
